Editorial Scope
The International Journal of Cognitive Ergonomics publishes articles in cognitive ergonomics as it relates to the analysis, design, and operation of cognitive activities. The journal welcomes submissions of original laboratory and field experimentation, case studies, and thorough review and reappraisal articles on selected cognitive ergonomic areas.

Instructions to Contributors:
Submit an original and four copies of the manuscript in typewritten form with 1.5" margins on all sides. Type all components double spaced, including title page, abstract, text, acknowledgments, references, appendices, tables, figure captions, and footnotes. Indent all paragraphs. Number headings such as 1, 1.1, 1.1.1, not to exceed three levels. Use superscript numbers to cite footnotes; type all footnotes on a separate page. Indicate in the manuscript approximately where each figure or table is to be positioned; type all footnotes on a separate page. Articles should be concise and written in English on one side of the paper. Page 1 should contain the article title, author(s) affiliation(s), a short form of the title (less than 48 characters and spaces), and the name and complete mailing address of the author to whom correspondence should be sent. Page 2 should contain a 150- to 200-word abstract. All pages should be numbered (except camera-ready artwork pages). Prepare manuscripts according to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (4th ed.), paying particular attention to references and citations and following "Guidelines to Reduce Bias in Language." Electronic version: To shorten the publication schedule of your article, authors are strongly encouraged to also submit an electronic copy of their manuscript in addition to the paper version with the final, accepted manuscript. MS Word on a DOS disk is the preferred format; however, other formats are acceptable. With the diskette, please include computer type, word processor (including version number), and file name. IBM- compatible users: Submit a DOS disk containing two files: (a) the file produced by your word processor (type .doc at the end of the name) and (b) an ASCII version of the same file (type .ASC at the end of the name). Macintosh users: Submit a high-density Mac disk containing two files: (a) the file produced with your word processor (type .doc at the end of the name) and (b) an ASCII version of the same file (type .ASC at the end of the name). Other computer users: Please try to convert and transfer your file to an IBM-compatible or Mac disk; then follow directions for IBM-compatible or Mac users. Other formats can also be accommodated by the Publisher. In a cover letter, include the contact author's address and telephone and fax numbers and state that the manuscript includes only original material that has not been previously published and that is not under review for publication elsewhere. Authors are responsible for all statements made in their work and for obtaining permission to reprint or adapt a copyrighted table or figure or to quote at length from a copyrighted work. Authors should write to the original author(s) and original publisher to see if permission is required and to request nonexclusive world rights in all languages to use the material in the current article and in future editions. Include copies of all permissions and credit lines with the manuscript. Articles and other material published by the International Journal of Cognitive Ergonomics represent the opinion of the authors and should not be construed to reflect the opinions of the editors or the publisher.
